27 October 2026, Nicosia – The Greek Cypriot leader, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, and the Turkish Cypriot leader, Mr. Tufan Erhürman, met today with members of the Steering Committee of the Civil Society Consultative Body at the United Nations Good Offices Mission in Cyprus, inside the United Nations Protected Area.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the leaders to engage with Steering Committee members following the Committee's inaugural meeting on 21 September 2026.
The Consultative Body is intended to provide a structured platform for civil society engagement in the Cyprus peace process, allowing perspectives from across the island to be heard and considered. The Steering Committee is responsible for guiding the development and working arrangements of the Consultative Body.
The engagement followed the understanding reached by the two leaders on 20 October 2026 to meet with the Steering Committee ahead of the expected arrival of the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General on Cyprus, Ms. María Ángela Holguín, on 29 October.
The United Nations Good Offices Mission in Cyprus facilitates the work of the Consultative Body.
