SRSG/DSASG Colin Stewart, welcomed the Turkish Cypriot leader, H.E. Mr. Ersin Tatar and the Greek Cypriot leader, H.E. Mr. Nicos Anastasiades and representatives of the diplomatic community, civil society and the media to Ledra Palace Hotel in the buffer zone on the evening of 7 December 2022. 

During the reception, Stewart said: "I want to commend the technical committees for their perseverance in seeking common ground across a wide range of areas of mutual benefit, despite whatever obstacles they may encounter" , "There is still plenty of potential to resolve the Cyprus issue, and regardless of the challenges, the UN in Cyprus will not relax our efforts to help the two sides arrive at common ground."
