Conference on Cyprus continues in Crans-Montana

CRANS-MONTANA, 29 June 2017 - The second day of the reconvened Conference on Cyprus is well underway, with the participants - the two Cypriot sides and the guarantors - focusing on the issue of security and guarantees this morning.

At ‘Table One’ this morning is the Greek Cypriot leader, Mr. Nicos Anastasiades, the Turkish Cypriot leader, Mr. Mustafa Akıncı, and the guarantor powers, represented by Greek Foreign Minister Mr. Nikos Kotzias, Turkish Foreign Minister Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and the UK’s Special Envoy on Cyprus, Mr. Jonathan Allen.

The Special Adviser of the Secretary-General on Cyprus, Mr. Espen Barth Eide, is facilitating the discussions, while the EU, present as an observer, is represented by Mr. Frans Timmermans, First Vice-President of the European Commission.

The day’s agenda will also include bi-communal negotiations at ‘Table Two’ on all other outstanding issues, as well as a number of bilateral meetings between Conference participants.​
