26 August 2026, Nicosia – The Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides and the Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhüman held a constructive meeting today under United Nations auspices in the United Nations Protected Area.
The two leaders reaffirmed their utmost appreciation to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, H.E. Mr. Antonio Guterres, for his recent visit to the island and for his continued support and commitment to the efforts towards a settlement of the Cyprus problem.
During their meeting, they reviewed progress regarding the way forward as defined in the recent visit of the United Nations Secretary-General to the island and agreed to intensify their meetings and to meet once a week and more frequently, as circumstances may require.
They also agreed to announce the members of the Steering Committee of the Civil Society Consultative Body tomorrow.
