Mr. Eide highlighted the recent joint visit by the Greek Cypriot negotiator, Andreas Mavroyiannis, and the Turkish Cypriot negotiator, Ozdil Nami, to Brussels, when they met EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, who reassured them of the EU’s full commitment to the ongoing work in Cyprus. He said the full support of the European Union, with the United Nations, the IMF and the World Bank was necessary on a number of technical issues of high importance as preparations continue towards a final political agreement.
