NICOSIA, 21 June 2016 - In light of the difficult situation with continuing fires on the island, the Greek Cypriot leader Mr. Nicos Anastasiades has requested to postpone today’s leaders’ meeting. The Turkish Cypriot leader, Mr Mustafa Akıncı, expressed his full understanding and support. The leaders will meet on Thursday 23 June at 10:00am at the UN’s Good Offices in Nicosia. The Special Adviser to the Secretary-General, Mr. Espen Barth Eide, offered his condolences for the loss of life; his thoughts are with all those affected. During these difficult times, the United Nations stands with the people of Cyprus.
