On 12 October 2026, the first bicommunal measles outbreak simulation exercise was held under the auspices of the Technical Committee on Health, bringing together 18 experts from both communities.
Through four breakout sessions, participants explored initial response measures and the actions needed in the event of an outbreak. The exercise also highlighted the importance of having both rapid and systematic information-sharing mechanisms tailored to different outbreak scenarios. Through their interactions, participants reinforced mutual understanding and strengthened cross-community cooperation.
The simulation was very well received, with strong interest in future exercises and continued mixed-group collaboration. Participants suggested several topics for future simulations including vector-borne diseases, tuberculosis and avian influenza.
The Good Offices Mission facilitates the Technical Committee on Health.
