The Technical Committee on Humanitarian Matters met on 25 June 2026 at the Ledra Palace Hotel with persons with disabilities from both communities.
The meeting provided an opportunity for participants to share firsthand experiences and discuss challenges they face in their daily lives. The exchange formed part of the Committee’s efforts to better understand practical needs and identify ways to support more inclusive engagement across the island.
By working in partnership with persons with disabilities, the Committee aims to organise activities and events that can contribute to improving the daily lives of Cypriots from both communities.
The United Nations Disability Inclusion Strategy provides the foundation for sustainable and transformative progress on disability inclusion through all pillars of the work of the United Nations: peace and security, human rights, and development. As the Secretary-General has said, “I want the United Nations to lead by example and invite you to join me in moving decisively to achieve the goals of the United Nations Disability Inclusion Strategy.”
