The Technical Committee on Youth concluded a two-day visit to Brussels from 10 to 11 June, held under the auspices of the United Nations and the Personal Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General on Cyprus, Ms. María Ángela Holguín Cuéllar, and with the support of the European Union.
During the visit, members of the Technical Committee met with the High Representative/Vice-President of the European Commission, Ms. Kaja Kallas.
The discussions focused on the importance of meaningful youth participation in fostering trust, dialogue, and cooperation across the island. The visit also provided an opportunity to highlight the role of young people in supporting engagement between the two communities.
The story of the Technical Committee on Youth has been one of speed, engagement and impact. Agreed at the 5+1 informal broader format meeting in Geneva in March 2025, the Committee held its inaugural meeting in May 2025.
