Decides to extend the present mandate of UNIFIL for a further period of 6 months, that is until 31 July 1999.

United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon

The UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) is a peacekeeping mission in south Lebanon. It was established by the Security Council in 1978 with Resolutions 425 and 426. In 2006, the Security Council strengthened UNIFIL’s mandate to monitor the cessation of hostilities, among other tasks.
